WASHINGTON – The attack coalition forces managed to “reduce significantly” the Libyan regime’s air defense capabilities, and effectively fly zones apply in the country, according to the U.S. military on Sunday.
“We think an attack was highly effective to reduce significantly the regime of air defense capability,” said Pentagon spokesman, Rear Admiral Bill Gortney, when providing information on the situation of the development of Libya told reporters.
French troops, America, and Britain has launched its biggest intervention in the Arab world since the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003, by firing more than 120 Tomahawk cruise missile and bombing attacks on important targets Libya.
“no-fly zone has effectively been in force,” said Gortney. He explains, Qaddafi has lost the ability to launch many of the missiles surface-to-air.
“There is no indication of civilian casualties,” added Gortney. He denied reports the opposite of Qaddafi officials who claimed many civilian victims of missile strikes from coalition forces.
